Just a little note if you would like a more sophisticated and accurate recount of our adventures I would like to refer you to Naomi's blog (naysnotednotes)' However if you are enjoying reading the whatever comes into my head recounts for each city then please keep continue.
Unfortunately i dont really have any funny or interesting stories about Prague. Our stay has gone really smoothly (which is really strange). The only lesson we have learnt wasn't actually in Prague but on the way. It is never safe to assume that just because you are far away from English speaking countries don't assume people don't speak English. We ended up in a compartment on the train with just a random guy (don't worry you should probably feel sorry for this one). When he walked in he said something in another language - czech I think was Naomi's guess. As I thought this guy didn't speak English I didn't start any conversations with him, instead Naomi and I covered some really girly topics (like the castle her future husband is gonna build her, weddings, guys, babies, Roger and other things- pretty sure you get the picture). Only when he was leaving did he say something in English and we realized that the poor guy understood everything that we had discussed over the last few hours. Lucky we'll never see him again! We giggled hysterically for quite a while after he left-if only he'd said something, we would have shut up (at least changed the topic or limited ourselves to just Roger!)
Again new city and new challenges. However this time there were a few different hiccups to what we are used to. Prague has been the first place where we have had absolutely no idea about language and there is also a different currency to get used to. Again our accommodation was a fare way from the train station we arrived at and we needed to catch some kind of transport to get there. We had had numerous warnings to stay away from cabs so we thought it best to use the underground. But first we needed to work out the ticket machine. All I can say is lucky that each European country has a similar procedure with there transport system and lucky there was an English option. Apart from getting a little disorientated once we were back above ground I am pleased to say that we made it to our accommodation with no problem.
The accommodation itself is a talking point. Just the name itself has provided us with some entertainment. Hotel Purpur is hot pink. But that's not the best part of this stay. We actually have a little kitchenette. Naomi has been quite at home cooking for us. It has been amazing to actually be able to prepare some dishes for ourselves that have veges (I have decided that its safest to steer clear of meat for a while after a few funky experiences with it. But don't worry I'm not going vegetarian).
To something more important- the city itself. While Prague is as old as most cities we have visited it stands alone. While it is old it's not cramped, it's clean and every street is bursting with its own character. My favorite place is Prague is the astronomical clock. It reminds me of a giant cuckoo clock. It is such a different site to anything we have seen yet. It was also really enjoyable just to wander around and take in the sights of such as old city. I really loved Prague Castle. It was pretty much a city in itself and the view from there looking out over the rest of Prague is amazing.
As we had needed a different currency we spent our last afternoon spending what we had left. We both had heaps of fun jumping from scarf shop to scarf shop and spending hundreds of Czech crowns on scarves-we have quite a big collection of them now!
